I took a party of four here on Saturday night. Cost inc wine Circa £140. The venue although a little under staffed provided us with a good quality meal chosen from a comprehensive menu with specials offered by the waitress when she handed us the menu. Upon arrival we parked in the car park at the back of the premises. This is large but unfortunately badly lite and full of pot wholes so negotiating it to get to the entrance in the dark is not easy especially if you are wearing heels! Once inside you enter a bar area and are able to have a drink prior being shown to your table. The restaurant area itself is pleasant and was busy (always a good sign). The clientele seemed conducive to the surroundings, by that I mean there were no baseball caps or people sitting with sunglasses on their heads and the like. The food was well presented and reasonably portioned. The only negative points I have are the very poor bread selection offered ie. plain white french stick with no butter and the dreadful red paper napkins. Neither of these aspects were in keeping with the rest of the experience and I hope the owners get some linen napkins before we visit again! I would also have liked our wine to have been placed in a wine bucket stand at the side of the table as table space was a little cramped for four diners and an ice bucket. Another surprise was that they could not accept credit cards....not a problem in itself but it could have been a nasty shock if we had not had the cash with us. We will be going back and I hope the new owners make a go of it without having to resort to too many cheap and nasty gimmicks that attract the wrong type of people in putting more discerning customers off. This area has a hugely diverse demographic and the wrong marketing strategy could easily destroy this pleasant venue.
