Recently reopened public house and carvery, The White Hart, is a really fantastic place to enjoy a drink along with great food, in a warm, welcoming environment.
The new owners and their "team" have renovated this old (and once tired) establishment, making it cosy and inviting - with the nicest, friendliest welcome in the south east (believe me!). I only went in to check the place out for an hour and stayed for 5 hours instead! Wonderful.
The owners have taken the brave step of NOT installing wall-to-wall tv, and it made a refreshing change to be able to sit, enjoy a pint and food...and just talk without having to compete with something blaring in my ear.
In short, The White Hart serves up a good and familar selection of drinks รก la an old fashioned pub, with great, perfectly cooked food - that, amazingly includes breakfasts starting at 9.30am, alongside a wide range of "stand-alone" favourites, an excellent Carvery, and a range of desserts - at great prices. Tea and coffee are available too if alcohol isn't your thing.
The service is second to none - you're greeted with a friendly smile and the conversation is free-flowing and enjoyable: I now know the names of everyone who works there and they know mine too! Everything is on a first name and informal term - just the way it used to be and how it SHOULD be in other establishments (but often isn't).
I highly recommend a visit to The White Hart - one of the nicest places you could hope to drink and eat in the Eltham area. I'll certainly be returning there again very soon.
Visit The White Hart and you definitely won't regret it.
