Food Quality

We really enjoyed our meal. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and we found the menu descriptions to be very accurate. Good portion sizes, which can be difficult to get right, and some lovely flavour combinations. Our expectations were met, if not exceeded and we really could not find fault with any of the dishes we ordered. It's definitely a cut above "normal" pub fayre - we would class it a restaurant standard.
Menu Choice

The menu is a mix of traditional and contemporary - we would say it has something to suit most palates. We particularly enjoyed the Deep fried brie and fig salad (a fantastic, fresh combination) and the lobster, crab and salmon spring rolls with dipping sauces (wonderful flavours). Salmon creaole with coriander risotto was very, very good. I am usually disappointed with risotto, but this was one I would happily eat again. Vegetarian choices are a bit limited.
Service

Friendly, attentive and cheerful. It's a relaxed place and the staff are not at all stuffy but do their job well. We were offered drinks on arrival, our order was taken efficiently and our food arrived within a very acceptablle timeframe. We were happy to leave a gratuity and were told this is shared equally amongst the serving staff and the chefs, which we feel is very fair, but a lot of places don't so this, so The White Lion gets a thumbs up from us for this.
Facilities

Large car park, nice sized tables, outdoor seating and garden, play area for children, cosy bar area, clean bathrooms.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This was our first time - the pub has been under new ownership for about 6 months and we had been hearing more and more locally about how nice it was. We are really pleased we eventually found the time to visit and will definitely go back.
